国際協力機構(JICA)カンボジア事務所は公共事業運輸省(MPWT)と協力し、Prek Kdam市からPoi Pet市までの国道5号線(全長366km、概算費用7億935万ドル)の改良を目指した。

このプロジェクトは、ウードン省、コンポンチュナン省、プルサット省、バッタンバン省において、既存の道路の状態を改善し、新しいバイパス(町やその中心部を通過する道路で、通過交通のための代替ルートを提供する)を建設することにより、交通容量を増加させ、物流の効率を向上させることが期待されている。
