カンボジアの専門家が19日（土）「BRICS諸国間の協力強化において、中国は重要な役割を果たしてきたし、今後も果たすだろう。」と語った。

BRICSとは、ブラジル、ロシア、インド、中国、南アフリカをグループ化した新興市場圏の頭文字をとったものである。

プノンペンを拠点とする独立系シンクタンク、Asian Vision Institute (AVI)のリサーチ・スーパーバイザーであるThong Mengdavid氏は、中国の極めて重要な役割は、上海を拠点とする新開発銀行の設立や偶発準備制度などのイニシアティブを通じて証明されていると述べ、「自由貿易と多国間貿易システムに対する中国の揺るぎないコミットメントは、連結性を高め、世界経済の統合と発展を促進することが期待される」と新華社に語った。
　BRICSは協力のための重要なプラットフォームとして、多国間主義を堅持し、グローバル・ガバナンス・システムを改革し、新興市場と発展途上国の代表権と発言力を高めることにコミットしている。
　また、「BRICSは強力な経済力として、経済の回復や開発、金融ガバナンスの改革といったグローバルな問題に取り組む上で、いくつかの重要な役割を果たす可能性がある」と述べた。

カンボジア王立アカデミー傘下のシンクタンクであるカンボジア国際関係研究所のキン・ペア所長は、BRICS諸国間の開放性、包摂性、Win-Winの協力の精神を促進する上で、中国は重要な役割を果たしていると述べ、「中国はBRICS諸国の主要な投資国であり貿易パートナーであり、中国とBRICS諸国との貿易・投資協力はBRICS諸国の経済発展に非常に強い影響を与えている」と新華社に語った。

プノンペンにあるベルテイ国際大学のジョセフ・マシューズ上級教授は、中国の平和的発展は、ほとんどの発展途上国とBRICS経済圏に国際舞台に参加し、グローバルな舞台で影響力を持つ機会を提供したと述べた。
