ベトナムの大富豪が今年初めに立ち上げた電気自動車（EV）とタクシーの会社VinFastが、カンボジアの道路を走ることになった。
様々な報道によると、同社は壮大な東南アジア拡大計画の一環として、カンボジアとラオスを最初の海外市場に選んだ。
グリーン・アンド・スマート・モビリティ（GSM）のグエン・ヴァン・タイン最高経営責任者（CEO）はビジネス・タイムズ紙に対し、年内にこれら2カ国の道路にEタクシーを走らせるのが目標だと語った。
GSM社は過去2四半期において≈社の自動車を最も多く購入した企業である。VinFastはコングロマリットVingroupの自動車部門である。ヴィンファストを設立した同グループのファム・ニャット・ヴオン会長はGSM社の95％を所有している。
「ラオスとカンボジアは観光を優先する2つの国です」と彼は述べた。
VinFastの株式は8月15日にナスダック株式市場の特別目的買収会社を通じて公開された。
デビューから数日で、株価は1株10ドルから93ドルの史上最高値まで急騰した。ナスダックによると、VinFastの時価総額はピーク時に2300億ドルを超え、フォードとゼネラル・モーターズを合わせたよりも一瞬価値が高くなった。
VinFastは今週、生産バリューチェーンにおける統合と競争優位性の強化を図るため、バッテリーメーカーであるVinESの株式99.8％を創業者のファム・ニャット・ヴオン氏から取得すると発表した。
この戦略的買収は、EVメーカーがバッテリーコストを5％から7％削減しようとする中で、同社がバッテリーの供給を確保するのに役立つと期待されている。
