カンボジアの衣料品、履物、旅行用品（GFT）部門は、主に外国への輸出需要の減少により、15工場から7,696人の労働者が職を失い、引き続き経済的な逆風に直面している。
労働職業訓練省（MLVT）の通達によると、これらの労働者は、今年3月初めに発表された政府パッケージに従い、雇用契約停止期間中の経済的支援を受けることができる。
この手当はKHRで支払われ、雇用契約の停止日数によって異なる。従って、雇用契約の停止期間が7日から14日の場合は81,000リエル（20ドル）、15日から1ヶ月の場合は162,000リエル（40ドル）が支給される。
ここ数カ月、GFT輸出の減速により、いくつかの工場が閉鎖され、数千人の雇用が失われた。
職を失った労働者たちは現在、月々70ドルの手当を受け取っており、工場主が30ドルを拠出し、残りは政府が負担している。政府はまた、経済的支援は契約停止中も継続することを明らかにした。
先週、MLVTはGFTセクターの8工場から4,076人の労働者が休業手当を受け取る資格があると認定されたと発表した。

GDCEの貿易データによると、今年1月から6月までのGFT商品の輸出額は51.9億ドル（前年同期63.7億ドル）であった。しかし、2023年6月の輸出額は、2022年6月の11.9億ドルに対して12.0億ドルであり、今年最初の上昇を示した。

2022年3月、カンボジア王国政府は「GFTセクター開発戦略2022-2027」を発表し、過去10年以上にわたってGFT輸出がカンボジアの総商品輸出の平均70%以上を占めるなど、GFTセクターが経済成長の柱として重要な役割を果たしていることを強調した。
同戦略はまた、カンボジア人250万人から300万人の生活に直接的・間接的に貢献していることも強調している。
