1月2日現在、2024年元日に日本を襲ったマグニチュード7.6の地震による在日カンボジア人の怪我や死亡は報告されていない。この公示は、昨日カンボジア外務・国際協力省の報道官が発表したプレスリリースで流された。
在日カンボジア大使館の記録によると、大地震の被害を受けた6県には約1,600人のカンボジア人が住んでいる。
また、石川県と新潟県では8人の学生が安全な場所に避難しているという。
同省はリリースを通じて、日本にいる全てのカンボジア人に対し、引き続き警戒し、日本の管轄当局が指導する安全に関する指示に厳格に従うよう呼びかけた。
同省とカンボジア大使館は、ホットライン（080 4689 9374）を開設し、公式フェイスブックページ（在日カンボジア大使館）で連絡を取り合っている。
在日カンボジア人の安全は、カンボジア政府にとって最優先事項であり、必要な介入を行うため、状況の推移を注意深く監視し続けている。
