「カンボジアにおける平和の日」は、平和を愛し戦争を憎むというカンボジア国民の神聖な願いに応えるものであると、月曜日に発行された王室政府の小政令は述べている。
この4条からなる政令によると、毎年12月29日は「カンボジアにおける平和の日」と定められ、カンボジアの公式な国家的祭典となる。
「カンボジアにおける平和の日」はまた、1998年12月29日に戦争が完全に終結し、Win-Win政策のおかげでカンボジアに完全な平和と国民統合が確立されたことを記念することを目的としている。
さらに、カンボジアの戦争が完全に終結し、国民和解と国民統合が達成され、カンボジアと国民に全土の平和がもたらされるまで、戦争、外交、政治の戦場などあらゆる戦場で懸命に戦ってきたカンボジアの愛国的英雄とヒロインの英雄的行為と犠牲に対する感謝と追憶を思い起こさせるものである。
このイベントは、現在と未来のすべての世代のカンボジア人に、国家の偉大な破壊とカンボジア国民の悲惨さ、戦争と国家分裂の結果を常に思い起こさせ、戦争を憎み、「平和の価値」をよりよく理解し、カンボジアの「平和の文化」を促進するために協力するよう促す。
「カンボジアにおける平和の日」をもう一つの祝日とすると、2024年のカンボジアの祝日は全部で23となる。
