カンボジア民間航空局のマオ・ハバナル担当大臣は木曜日、2023年の最初の10ヶ月間に411万人の航空旅行者を登録し、前年同期比144％増加したと発表した。
32の国際・国内航空会社が今年1月から10月までの間に、カンボジアの3つの国際空港に合計41,596便を運航し、前年同期比93％増であったという。
ハバナル担当大臣によると、カンボジアは現在、ASEAN（東南アジア諸国連合）加盟8カ国をはじめ、中国、韓国、カタールなどと直行便を結んでいる。
「全体として、カンボジアの航空産業は2019年にコロナパンデミック以前の時代と比較して55％以上回復したと想定できます 」と、中国が投資したシェムリアップ・アンコール国際空港の落成式でのスピーチで述べた。
同大臣は、これまでのところカンボジア最大の空港であるシェムリアップ・アンコール国際空港が、アンコール遺跡公園のあるシェムリアップ県に新たな国際航空会社や旅行者、特に中国からの旅行者を誘致する一助となることへの期待を表明した。
「シェムリアップ・アンコール国際空港はカンボジアの経済成長に弾みをつけ、航空、観光、投資を促進し、貧困削減にさらに貢献するでしょう。
「この新しい空港が、カンボジアとより広い世界をつなぐ架け橋になることを確信しています」と付け加えた。
