民間航空局のシン・チャンセレーヴタ次官によると、新しくオープンしたシェムリアップ・アンコール国際空港には、間もなくさらに多くの航空会社が就航する予定である。
シェムリアップ・アンコール国際空港から運航する航空会社の数は、観光シーズンが始まろうとしている今後数週間のうちに、現在の7社から10社に増加する予定である。「2023年の冬には、新空港から9〜10社の航空会社が就航する予定です」とチャンセレイブタ氏はクメール・タイムズ紙に語った。
「現在就航している航空会社7社のうち、6社が外国の航空会社で、1社が地元の航空会社です」。
月曜日の民間航空局の報告書によると、シェムリアップ・アンコール国際空港を通過する航空旅客数は着実に増加しており、10月24日に記録された2,600人から現在は1日3,200人に増加している。
同空港は1日42便を記録し、先月の34便から増加した。行き先は主にASEANと中国であり、航空旅客の約75％はこれらの地域から、残りはヨーロッパからのものであるという。
ソトル・ニクム地区のタイエクコミューンに位置し、シェムリアップ市から50キロ離れた場所にある4Eレベルの国際空港は、10月16日に営業を開始した。
長さ3,600メートルの滑走路と38のバースを備え、世界各地からの長距離便を受け入れることができる。シェムリアップ・アンコール国際空港は現在、年間700万人の旅客を管理することができ、2040年からは年間1,200万人という驚異的な旅客数に増加する見込みである。
カンボジア観光省が金曜日に発表した報告書によると、2023年の最初の9ヶ月間にカンボジアを訪れた外国人観光客は392万人で、前年同期の126万人から211％の急増となった。
今年1月から9月にかけてのタイへの外国人到着者数はタイがトップで、ベトナム、中国、ラオス、アメリカがそれに続いたという。
民間航空局の報告書によると、134万人の観光客が国際空港を経由して王国に到着し、これは前年比185％の増加であり、残りは陸路と水路経由であった。
