カンボジアは世界食品安全デーを迎え、食品安全に関して、食品環境や消費者の意思決定を考慮し、農場から食卓までのバリューチェーンに沿ったすべての利害関係者間のパートナーシップと協力精神の高まりを奨励することを目的とした。
ソフィテル・ホテルで開催されたこのイベントには、農業、食品、栄養、政策立案者、開発パートナー、非政府組織、主要な専門家、民間セクター、研究者、講師、学生、農民、青年グループから約300人の関係者が集まった。
「食品規格は命を救う」をテーマに、生産における食品規格、露店や屋台の食品規格、消費者の健康保護と食品貿易における公正な慣行の確保、食品規格と表示、学校給食の規格、世界的なコンプライアンスに向けた道のりなど、さまざまなテーマについて議論が行われた。
関係者は現在、法的枠組みと管理システムの開発を支援する一方、食品基準が改善され、公衆衛生要件が確実に守られるよう、能力を構築している。
国連工業開発機関（UNIDO）カンボジア代表のナリン・ソック（Narin SOK）氏は、産業界における食品基準を強化する現在進行中の取り組みについて次のように述べた。
「カンボジアの食品加工産業は経済発展の可能性を秘めています。カンボジアの食品加工産業は、経済発展の可能性を秘めています。政府は、カンボジアが世界市場に参入するのに伴い、食品の安全性と基準の向上に努めています」とナリン氏は述べた。
ディス・ティナ農林水産大臣は、カンボジア政府が食品安全基準の強化に取り組んでいることを強調し、食品安全の育成に関係するすべての人々の参加を呼びかけた。
「我々は、多部門にまたがるアプローチを通じて、すべてのカンボジア人にとって安全で健康的な食料供給を確保することに全力を注いでいる。」
「しかし、この作業には関係者の協力が必要であり、各関係者の間で関連する食品安全慣行を実施する意欲がなければなりません。このような利害関係者は、消費者、民間部門、国レベルおよび地方レベルの政府から構成されるべきです」と大臣は付け加えた。
