カンボジアは世界食品安全デーを迎え、食品安全に関して、食品環境や消費者の意思決定を考慮し、農場から食卓までのバリューチェーンに沿ったすべての利害関係者間のパートナーシップと協力精神の高まりを奨励することを目的とした。
ソフィテル・ホテルで開催されたこのイベントには、農業、食品、栄養、政策立案者、開発パートナー、非政府組織、主要な専門家、民間セクター、研究者、講師、学生、農民、青年グループから約300人の関係者が集まった。
「食品規格は命を救う」をテーマに、生産における食品規格、露店や屋台の食品規格、消費者の健康保護と食品貿易における公正な慣行の確保、食品規格と表示、学校給食の規格、世界的なコンプライアンスに向けた道のりなど、さまざまなテーマについて議論が行われた。

国連工業開発機関（UNIDO）カンボジア代表のナリン・ソック（Narin SOK）氏は、産業界における食品基準を強化する現在進行中の取り組みについて次のように述べた。
