民間航空局によると、プノンペンの新国際空港の建設は11月現在55％完成しており、予定通り工事が進んでいることから、2025年の開港を目指している。

昨日、クメール・タイムズの取材に対し、「SSCAのシン・チャンセレーヴタ国務次官は、工事の進捗状況を説明する中で、テチョ国際空港の第一期工事には約8億ドルの費用がかかる」と述べた。

プノンペンの南約20kmに位置するカンダール州とタケオ州にあるテチョ国際空港と名付けられたこの空港は、カンボジア政府が民間航空局とカンボジア海外投資公社を通じて行う共同事業である。

「予定通り、プロジェクトは2024年末までに完了する見込みで、空港の運用開始は2025年前半になる見込みです」。

一旦運用が開始されれば、新空港は現在のプノンペン国際空港に取って代わることになる。

カンボジアの国際空港の2023年1月〜10月の航空旅客数は合計411万人で、前年同期比144％増であったとSSCAの報告書に記載されている。

の国際空港における2023年1月から10月までの総飛行回数は41,596回で、前年同期比93％増であった。

民間航空局のマオ・ハバナル担当大臣は、「この数字はカンボジアの航空産業が大幅に回復していることを示している」と述べた。
「私たちは、カンボジアの航空産業がパンデミック時代と比較して55％以上回復したと理解しています」と彼は10月に述べた。
